Thai Massage Islington

Asiatic Master-Led Somatic Bodywork methodology, rooted in traditional Thai massage, has shaped our Upper Street studios in Angel and Highbury since 2009.

Thai Massage in Angel, Islington and Upper Street

You can find traditional Thai massage at our two Upper Street studios: Asiatic Angel at 93 Upper Street and Asiatic Highbury at 262 Upper Street. Both locations are convenient for clients in Islington, Angel, Highbury, Canonbury, and the wider N1 area.

Our Thai massage uses pressure-based bodywork, assisted stretching, compression and careful body positioning. Each session is adapted to your comfort, mobility, pressure preference and reason for visiting, whether you want a focused treatment or a longer full-body session.

Traditional Thai Massage, Adapted for Modern London Life

At Asiatic, Thai massage is about skilled hands, careful pressure, and responding to how your body feels that day. Rooted in the tradition of Nuad Thai, the treatment uses pressure-based bodywork, assisted stretching, compression, and rhythmic movement.

At our Angel and Highbury studios, we tailor each session to your comfort, mobility, and the reason for your visit. Some guests come for relief from muscle tension caused by desk work, commuting, or training. Others enjoy a slower, full-body treatment to feel more relaxed and at ease.

We combine traditional Thai bodywork, attentive listening, and a calm standard of care that has defined Asiatic on Upper Street since 2009.

What Is Thai Massage?

Thai massage, or Nuad Thai, is a traditional form of Thai bodywork that uses pressure, assisted stretching, compression, and rhythmic movement. Unlike many oil-based massages,  traditional Thai massage is usually done fully clothed on a padded floor mat.

The treatment uses steady pressure and guided movement. Your therapist may use their hands, elbows, knees, or feet to apply pressure and support stretches, always adapting the session to your comfort and mobility.

At Asiatic, Thai massage is never a fixed routine. Each session is tailored to your body, pressure preferences, and the reason for your visit.

How Thai Massage Works

Traditional Thai massage can feel more active and movement-based than a typical oil massage. Your therapist uses pressure, stretching, and compression to encourage a sense of spaciousness, ease, and renewed energy in the body.

The session may include:

  • Pressure-based bodywork
  • Assisted stretching
  • Rhythmic compression
  • Careful body positioning
  • Focused work for areas of general muscle tension
  • A calm, steady rhythm of care

Rather than rushing through a routine, your therapist works carefully with your natural range of movement. The aim is to create a treatment that feels grounded, attentive and suitable for your comfort level.

Thai Massage, Guided with Care

Our Thai massage sessions are guided by traditional Thai bodywork knowledge, calm communication, and close attention to your body’s response at each stage of the treatment. We focus on appropriate pressure, clear guidance, and a guest-centred approach that make each session feel more considered, comfortable, and restorative.

What to Expect: Your First Thai Massage Visit

Visiting Asiatic is designed to feel calm, respectful and easy to understand.

Before your treatment begins, your therapist will ask about your pressure preference, areas of general tension, comfort level and any areas you would prefer to avoid. This helps us shape the session around your body on the day.

Traditional Thai massage is usually performed fully clothed. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement, such as gym or yoga-style clothing.

Your session may take place on a padded floor mat or massage bed, depending on the treatment style, room set-up and your comfort. During the session, your therapist may use steady pressure, assisted stretching, compression and rhythmic movement.

Some stretches may feel deep, but the treatment should not feel overwhelming. You are encouraged to communicate at any time so your therapist can adjust the pressure, pace or position.

After Your Thai Massage

r your session, we recommend giving your body a little time to settle before returning to a busy schedule. Thai massage can feel energising, grounding or deeply relaxing depending on the session and how your body responds.

To support your post-treatment experience, we suggest:

  • Drinking water after your appointment
  • Taking a short walk or quiet moment before rushing back into the day
  • Eating lightly if you feel relaxed after the session
  • Avoiding intense exercise immediately afterwards if your body feels tired
  • Noticing how your body feels over the next day or two

These simple steps can help you enjoy deep, lasting relaxation after your treatment.

General wellbeing note: Thai massage is offered for relaxation, body awareness, general muscular comfort and wellbeing. It does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, physiotherapy or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.
